How to read this

The map is a SOLWEIG run at 1 m: shadows from every building and tree, how much sky each square metre sees, and heat radiated back from hot ground and walls. Its output is the mean radiant temperature, which combines with air temperature, humidity and wind into UTCI, the feels-like temperature used in heat-health research.

When you plant, the change is previewed instantly in your browser by a fast model calibrated against SOLWEIG for this school and hour. Squares you don't touch keep the physics value. "Verify with physics" sends the design to the full model and replaces the preview with the real answer.

The child twin is JOS-3, a 17-segment model of human thermoregulation, scaled to a nine-year-old on the Delhi government school morning shift. It reports the rise above the child's own resting temperature, because the model's absolute set points do not scale to children. The method page has the details and the limits.
